Life Skills Education

We provide life skills education through a weekly Peer Support Group that is led in a group discussion context by a trained professional. The Peer Support Group encourages participants to review life experiences of the week and share their successes and struggles in order to problem-solve, gain greater perspective, and share advice with one another. The Life Skills group is open to anyone committed to personal change, spiritual growth, and socially responsible living, including adult family members and friends.

Felipe Nazario's journey to The Blessing Way began in the Bronx. Raised by parents who came there from Puerto Rico, weekend parties with plenty of alcohol were a normal part of family life. After years of struggle he found AA and The Blessing Way.

"I ended up going to jail for four months. While on home confinement, I decided to change my life. I was going to AA and a substance abuse group, but I still felt something was missing in my life. I heard about The Blessing Way program that helps people with criminal records get employment. I needed all the help I could get in finding a job. While I was there, I was told about another group they have called Life Skills Peer Support Group. We call it "The Circle". It is a very positive group that helps me fill the void I had. When I leave from there, I feel so energized and full of life, with an unexplainable happiness.

Eligibility: A demonstrated commitment to emotional and spiritual growth and a drug-free, crime-free life style.
